My hope and wish for this company would be that every person who buys one of my bags can feel the rejoicing and joy that I described above as they help pick out colors and design for their bag. May Sennsational Bags be the place for you to find the one that is just right for you!
What does a woman who loves purses and bags, is a new quilter and wants everyone to have the purse they love give you? Someone who wants to give you the opportunity for one Sennsation Bag!
My Beginning
To say that I come from a crafty family would be an understatement. My Grandma Senn did ceramics for a living and she painted, quilted, did embroidery and cross stitch for hobbies. I began doing some of these same things at a very young age. Some of my fondest memories as a child are sitting with a paint brush in my hand as I watched my Grandmother so patiently create her newest masterpiece. Here are a few of Grandma's, Paityn's and my ceramic creations.
As much as I have always enjoyed these things, there was one thing I always wanted to do and never tackled...quilting. That is, until I met my husband. I was blessed to marry into a quilting family. I knew the moment we got married that my quiet and hidden desire to quilt would come out very soon. Oh, how right I was. My mother in law blessed me with a new sewing machine and a quilting class for Christmas. My first quilt ever was made for my daughters birthday. By no means is quilting something that I will ever be a master at, but it something that brings me such joy to do.
Now, how does that lead to Sennsational Bags..... Anyone who knows me on a personal level knows that there are few things that I love as much as a new purse. I thrive off the hunt, rejoice in the finding and find joy as I carry my bag each day. I was never someone who had to the most expensive bag. I just enjoyed the fun of finding a new one, even if it was just at a thrift store. Heck, for my birthday several years ago my closest friends and my brother all pitched in an bought me my one and only VERY expensive purse. Talk about people who know me well. I even took my new found quilting skills and created small bags for Paityn and a girlfriend during a sleep over this spring. Seeing the fun they had picking the material and walking around with their bags just brought a smile to my face. (Paityns bag is shown here)
During the Spring of 2012 I went to a quilt show with my mother in law, Teresa, and fell in love with a purse that I saw on display. Immediately I knew it was a pattern and a project I had to tackle. I made my first bag as something inspired by the summer months. Never did I imagine how much I would enjoy making that bag. Before I knew it, I was being asked time and time again if I would ever sell one of my bags. I tossed the thought aside until I went to another quilt show and saw a couple of booths with hand crafted bags and found that I didn't like any of them as much as I liked the one I had made. By the end of afternoon, after much encouragement from Teresa and my husband, we were on our way to the store to price my materials and actually discussing the idea of selling the bags I made.
My hope and wish for this company would be that every person who buys one of my bags can feel the rejoicing and joy that I described above as they help pick out colors and design for their bag. May Sennsational Bags be the place for you to find the one that is just right for you!
